ACME stood for American Consolidated Metal Enterprises, that was originally based in Chicago, IL. They made and sold all sorts of home and farm use hardware and appliance items. The "ACME Star 205 Handcrank Clothes Wringer", is just one example of a home use appliance that they made and sold. Of all the handcrank clothes wringers, it was of all metal construction and used no wood parts as it's competitors did. It was the Apex of clothes wringers! The "ACME Cream Separator" was another high quality item they made and sold. Their products were sold through Sears Roebuck and Co., in the USA, and Simpson-Sears, Ltd. in Canada, at one time.
